Warren J. Strudwick, M.D.
Orthopedist
Dr. Strudwick is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise, and, in particular, injuries to the knee and shoulder. Currently in practice with Bay Area Orthopedic and Sports Specialists, Dr. Strudwick cares for athletes and other physically active individuals, including injured workers and the perpetually active baby boomers. A board certified orthopedic surgeon, he works to keep athletes of all levels vibrant, healthy and in peak physical condition. When asked, what is the most rewarding aspect of his practice, Dr. Strudwick comments, that “…returning anyone, including athletes, to their pre-injury level of activity and performance, and then witnessing their return to a greater quality of life is the greatest reward”.
He is presently team physician and orthopaedic surgeon with the Oakland Raiders, a position he has held for the last 17 years. He also currently serves as team physician for Contra Costa College. A few of his past appointments include team physician for the U.S.A Track and Field Team, the Golden State Warriors, the U.S.A Olympic Boxing Team, the University of California, Berkeley, Berkeley High School Football Team, and the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
In addition to his work with Berkeley High School and the University of California, Berkeley, he also works locally with the PMF’s Doctors On Board Program, a pipeline mentoring program for youth interested in becoming physicians. Dr. Strudwick is a mentor to many young athletes and students (especially young African American males) and encourages them through guidance in life skills, healthy practices, and career preparation.
Recently, he was featured in and on the cover of Oakland and Alameda’s Magazine’s 2012 Top Doctor issue. He has been the recipient of various national and local awards recognizing his contribution to the community and to his patients including “America’s Top Orthopedist”, “America’s top Surgeon”, Best Sports Medicine Doctor In the East Bay”, and “Most Compassionate Doctor”.
