The success we have achieved with the Bill Russell Scholarship gave us the incentive to establish the James D. Falaschi Scholarship Fund, which is a one-year scholarship now in its sixth year.
Jim was born in Oakland, attended Skyline High School in Oakland and St. Mary’s College in Moraga. He is the President of the Transbay Holding Company as well as a Partner and the Master Developer for Jack London Square Partners. Jim, like Bill Russell, has spent his life giving back to the community. He has served as President of the Summit Medical Center in Oakland, seeing it through three major mergers in nine years. He is currently the Board Chairman of the Alameda County Office of Education Foundation, a current officer and past Vice Chairperson of the Alameda County Office Economic Development Alliance for Business as well as many others too numerous to mention.
We are definitely not the first to recognize Jim’s dedication to the community. He was named “Citizen of the Year” by the Oakland Tribune and New Oakland Committee in 1998 and given “The Living Example” award by the Bay Area Tumor Institute in 1997, among many others.
Summit Bank Foundation would like to thank Jim Falaschi for all he has done for our community and is honored to name this scholarship after such an outstanding man.
